About July Weather ...

Just a silly drawing of my Protester friend from three years ago.  Apologies for the quality -- I don't press down hard enough with a #2 pencil anymore and the quality of the scan isn't all that great, either.  Still, given the present weather situation, I thought I'd post it.

Oh, and the message on the upside-down sign isn't a question, it's a statement.

:-)

Our mailman was wearing a towel around his neck today. I asked him if he was wetting it down and he said that he had another one in a cooler in the mail truck.

Cousin It is melting . . .

It's not actually Cousin Itt. You never see Itt's legs. Itt was also drawn and portrayed as relatively short and stocky. I've always tried to convey the Protester as taller. He's almost always drawn on a soap box and holding a sign(s), which Itt wasn't known for.

When I first started drawing him back in the late 1960s, he wore a headband and love beads and was barefoot. Oh, yeah, he was and is the perennial hippie - forever protesting something and forever in need of a haircut. He occasionally gets a wardrobe, but for the most part, it's just shoes and sunglasses now. I guess he's a nudist underneath it all ;-)

As to the heat, I rarely handle July well and kvetch about it in one form or another at least once during the month, and oy, yeah, it can stop being hot now.

July showed up after a week of torrential rain. Now we have smothering humidity. Yes, it's summer. At least it isn't over 100°, like it was last year when we hit record temps for a few weeks.

A nudist under the pelt? Dirty hippie. ;-)
